The short version

Sharmionics works on your device without an account. Your logbook, crew details and documents stay on your phone unless you choose to sign in for backup and iPad sync.

Without an account

Everything you enter — Törns, legs, log entries, crew, checklists, documents — is stored on your device. Passports, licences and certificates are encrypted on the device, and text in them is recognised on the device. Nothing is sent to a cloud service to be read.

If you sign in

Signing in uses a link sent to your email address; there is no password. Your email address and the data you choose to sync are stored with our backend provider, Supabase, in the EU. Identity documents are not synced unless you turn each one on individually.

Location

When you start tracking, the app records your position to build the track and to position log entries. Location is used for the logbook only; it is not shared with anyone unless you export or sync it.

Services the app contacts

To show charts, weather and tides, the app requests data for the area you are looking at from map, weather and tide providers (Stadia Maps, OpenSeaMap, Open-Meteo and WorldTides). These requests include the area or position being looked up, but not your name, crew or documents.

No tracking, no ads

Sharmionics contains no advertising and no third-party analytics.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device. If you signed in, you can ask us to delete your synced data at any time.
